Fingerprint gun safes so really quickly different types of lock mechanisms on gun safes today you have the lock and key obviously everyone knows what that is you have a combination lock the spinner pretty familiar been around for you know a couple hundred years you have digital locks which basically our battery run you type in a code and the safe opens for you and then what we’re gonna talk about today are the fingerprint technology so basically you put your hand or your finger in a certain spot on the safe on the scanner and within a second or two the scanner reads your finger and opens the safe for you so fingerprint gun safes scanners it’s kind of will be spending the time today so this technology technology has been around for 10 15 years it’s gotten a lot better than it used to be so some of the concerns in the past were at the fact would be a lot of failures you’d go to your safe and mill the night or just any given day and you go put your finger on there 10 years ago fifty percent of time that’s safe would open maybe not so it’d take a while and you’re safe well today the accuracy rate on these scanners are ninety five to ninety eight percent so it’s it’s a lot better than it used to be we’re going to talk about some of the pros and some of the kinds of this technology fingerprints gun safe technology the pros let’s start there so as far as accuracy goes it’s very very good not as perfect that’s like a combination lock where if you put the combo when it’s going to work on percent of time every time you’re going to be good at about ninety percent accuracy rate with fingerprint gun safes quick access there’s no quicker access than a fingerprint style technology on your safe you get your safe you put your finger there within a second or two that thing pops open for you so it’s very very quick if you look for quick access you got to consider a fingerprint option you don’t need to worry about a combo or keep key somewhere lot of these newer units come with key options or combo options its back up but all you really need to know is where that safe is run over and and then plug your finger in there what’s great as far as access goes i mentioned quick but also in nights let’s say that that safe is under your your bed in a drawer whoever may be in it’s nighttime you can’t see you don’t want to light out if they’re you know there is someone that’s breaking into your your your house you can just go to that unit put your finger on there and that thing will open for you so without really having to do much they’re great options as far as a number of the the options on the market today a lot of them offered 15 20 30 different fingerprints so if you have a number of folks in your house or if you want to use this that work your need to pass a code you know from time to time know what that password may be to get into the safe it’s all fingerprint drip and so it’s great we would suggest if you do go this route to yeah plug in your fingerprint in a couple different directions you know a couple angles so it will help the skin or pick your your print up quicker than if you just do it once some of the negatives the cons I would say the biggest ones by the batteries so you these are battery run for the most part and what that means is you know and at some point in time the battery’s going to run out so you got to keep your eye on that unit that safe and make sure the battery power is there the last thing you want is to to be in a situation where you want to get into that safe and the battery’s dead so we always suggest check on the battery once a month once every two months if you can some of the units say every quarter there are some units out there that you say they don’t need to be replaced for every two years but you know to be the plates say if I’d say every month every two months you do kind of have to babysit that the power of the fingerprint safe the other thing as I mentioned it’s not hungry something accurate so there will be times where it might take two to three times to get in there we’re not talking about a period of 45 60 seconds we’re talking about maybe 9 10 12 seconds you can finally get into your safe as far as manufacturers go there are a number of them are starting to make the fingerprint gun safes but for the most part it’s barska there’s some great units on the market today stack-on i would say second and then gunvault so barska stack-on and God vault some some great options there for you so this was an overview of fingerprint gun safes hope it was helpful kind of get you up to speed
